For as long as I can remember, I have had a fascination with animals. It began while taking care of my own childhood pets, along with the animals I spotted in the woods where I spent a lot of my time hiking. A few years later in high school, my passion for medicine was ignited. The functions and anatomy of the body intrigued me, thus inspiring me to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. I was fortunate enough to find the perfect combination of my two passions.

My career in veterinary medicine began when I was fifteen years old working as a veterinary assistant at a local clinic. I worked toward my dream of becoming a veterinarian throughout high school as well as college. I graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in biology and went on to Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine where I studied for the next four years. Having attended the University of Kentucky and living in Lexington while earning my undergraduate degree, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to return to the place I considered home.

Getting the opportunity to pursue my passion at Richmond Road Veterinary Clinic has become nothing short of a dream come true. Richmond Road Veterinary Clinic not only gave me an amazing career, but also gave me my wonderful wife Marci and my two beautiful daughters. Each day is an adventure for me. I am constantly looking for opportunities to expand my knowledge about veterinary medicine as well as to educate the people around me.

Growing up on a small farm in rural Kentucky, I learned early the value of family, friendships and the importance of helping others. I wanted to practice veterinary medicine in a way my clients could undoubtedly see the amount of heart and soul I have and how much I care. I wanted there to be a focus on building true client-patient relationships that will stand the test of time.

After graduating from Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013, a priority was to find the perfect clinic that would have the same core values. Richmond Road Veterinary Clinic has definitely become my home. I look forward to becoming more involved in the community through my work here.

Ever since I was a little girl I have loved people, so it’s not surprising that I ended up in a career that allows me to serve them. Being a veterinarian allows me to merge two of my loves together, and nothing makes me happier than to help enhance the human-animal bond that enriches all of our lives.

Growing up around my grandfather’s small horse farm in southeastern Kentucky, my family instilled a love and respect for animals in me at a young age. I learned early that while you often cannot judge a book by its cover, watching how someone treats animals is an exception to that rule and is usually a good litmus test of their character. I love working with pet owners that share that same love for animals, and have met some amazing people because of it throughout my career.

I grew up in the small town of Middlesboro, KY which is right on the Kentucky-Tennessee-Virginia line in the heart of Appalachia. I attended the University of Kentucky for my undergraduate education, where I majored in Animal Sciences, then continued my path at Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine where I finished up in 2012. While I loved Alabama; I bleed blue and my heart has always been in Kentucky.

I began my veterinary career practicing mixed animal medicine in a rural part of Eastern Kentucky. Our family moved to Lexington several years ago and knew this is where we wanted to put our roots down. After practicing emergency medicine, and small animal medicine, I found my home here at Richmond Road Veterinary Clinic where I get to work with amazing people and watch pets and families grow.

I am married to my best friend, Derrick, and we have two rambunctious boys; Asher and Liam who have our whole heart. I am thrilled to be here at Richmond Road Veterinary Clinic, and look forward to serving your families and fur-babies for years to come!

I am the newest veterinarian to join Richmond Road Veterinary Clinic and I am loving the clients and patients I’ve met! I’m a Kentucky native and a graduate of the University of Kentucky, and I went to veterinary school in Tuskegee, AL at the Tuskegee School of Veterinary Medicine.

After graduating Summa Cum Laude, I participated in one of the most prestigious preceptorships in the country at the VCA West Bernard Animal Hospital in San Diego. My husband, who is also a veterinarian, and I then practiced in Pennsylvania for a few years before we were called back home to Kentucky.

My husband Kevin and I have three children, Liam, Lily and Cayce. Plus, our tremendous love of animals doesn’t end at the office! We have 5 dogs, 3 cats and have founded the Central Kentucky Wildlife Hospital.

Professionally, I spend time researching alternative and holistic therapies that can also be helpful to ensuring your pet lives its best life.
